You've brought together clearly written and compelling correlations here. I too think we are only at the beginning of astrology's revival. Civilization is spirit-dead and yearning for something transcendent and meaningful, something astrology seems uniquely poised to provide. It is nice to hear the sky is unfolding a similar picture.
This is 'my' second go-round with this shift. This time I understand what is happening. I would love to hear 'anything' on the dawning of the Age of Aquarius and the feminine age, leaving the masculine age exiting in flames to ...
I also have a burning need to learn everything about The Witch Trials/lore leading to paganism as a practice replacing 'man in charge' back to 'nature is abundant and takes care of all'. I have more questions than ever. 'Stuff' is so overrated my dear.
Timely and important. Coming to the study of astrology myself from the direction of the metaphysics first, I was surprised how many contemporary astrologers weren't familiar with the development of modern astrology, its framers, and their motivations.
You're right to set aside the "problematics" of Theosophical doctrine for the moment; it's far more difficult than can be encompassed in a tangental essay or can be explained with saying they were products of their time. However, there's a greater reckoning ahead with it for the growing body of contemporary astrologers: the specific doctrines that Leo and others used to construct modern astrology are, at root, identical to the elements of Theosophy we find most troubling now (whether Blavatskian or Neo-Theosophical).
As Leo says, "Exoteric Astrology begins its study from the side of diversity and separateness." For millennia, our ancestors understood and were willing to carry this metaphysical study in difference to extents we're unwilling or perhaps too wise to carry it to now yet it remains, likely inseparable, as the core of modern astrological practice.
Thanks for your kind words Michael. It will indeed be interesting to see which elements of Theosophical thought do end up being carried through the tradition, if any. Were they merely a starting point, or did they contribute something that is needed for where things are meant to go?

Thanks Michael! I agree with you, there is an emptiness to modern civilisation that, like a vacuum, is yearning to be filled

Wow, I loved this so much! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Fantastic, Dan! Can't wait for the book.
Thanks Bea!
